Bangalore was host to a special get-together last evening at the Sheraton Hotel as a Canadian Delegation stopped over in the city recognised as a global technology hotspot. The delegation of ten Canadian technology companies was led by the Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development of Canada, Navdeep Bains who is on an official visit to India.

During this event hosted by Ms. Jennifer Daubeny, Consul General of Canada, the delegation networked and interacted with business people working in India and with Renato Cudicio, CEO of Arsha Consulting and Chairman of the Indo-Canadian business Chamber (ICBC) in Bangalore. The common goal shared by all was to reinforce Indo-Canadian bilateral ties.

The rapport between India and Canada have been growing stronger in recent years, with both countries taking steps in the direction of better bilateral trade. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Canada in 42 years and his visit last year is known to have generated business worth 1.6 billion dollars. The relationship between the leaders of the two countries is known to be at its best and there is an anticipation of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visiting India soon. Mr. Bains comes to India as a forerunner preparing for PM Trudeau’s eagerly awaited official visit.

A shared value between the two countries is the diversity that they celebrate. Like India, Canada welcomes diverse communities into its social fabric. Mr. Navdeep Bains as a member of the large Indian diaspora in Canada (nearly 4% of the Canadian population is of Indian origin), is a true testament to this multiplicity.

After one more day in Bangalore for B2B meetings booked by ICBC-Bangalore, the delegation will fly to Mumbai for another day of networking before returning to Canada.
